Founder’s note
I founded Rooted Wellness after I had my first child, because as I experienced first hand, women are not getting the reproductive healthcare that we deserve. I believe that every woman should have access to personalized, evidence-based and holistic wellness support. At Rooted Wellness, we celebrate the uniqueness of each woman and translate nutrition science into actionable guidance. After all, nutrition should revolve around your lifestyle, instead of your lifestyle revolving around your nutrition.

Who we are
Sarah Rueven, MS, RDN, CDN
Founder
Sarah Rueven is a New York City-based Registered Dietitian. She received her undergraduate degree at Brandeis University, where she studied History and Education Studies. Like many of her clients, Sarah struggled with her weight and body image as a young adult. She made the conscious choice to turn things around, and began to educate herself about nutrition and wellness. As Sarah enjoyed the effects of all the healthy changes she was implementing, living a balanced and healthy life developed into a true passion. Having seen “the light”, Sarah wanted to find a way to share it with others.
After college, Sarah pursued a Master's degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics at New York University and was accepted into NYU's competitive Dietetic Internship program. Sarah completed her internship at New York University Langone Medical Center, where she gained invaluable experience providing clinical nutrition therapy to patients with a variety of different medical conditions including diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, HIV/AIDS, GI Disorders and hypertension.
Sarah is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Greater New York Dietetics Association, the Women's Health Practice Group and the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group. She is a founding advisory board member of Robyn, a maternal wellness resource.
Sarah lives in lower Manhattan with her husband and their two young kids.
Kirsten Burns, MS, RDN
Registered Dietitian
Kirsten Burns is a California-based Registered Dietitian. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Southern California. After college, Kirsten worked at Thrive Global, a behavior change company founded by Arianna Huffington to end the burnout epidemic, where she developed a growing interest in the impact of nutrition on well-being and long-term health.
Kirsten went on to earn her Master of Science in Nutrition, Healthspan, and Longevity from the University of Southern California, and completed her supervised practice hours at Sutter Health CPMC hospital in San Francisco.
As a new mother, she is deeply passionate about the transformative role nutrition plays in fertility and pregnancy outcomes, and is committed to guiding women through these stages with evidence-based, supportive care. In her free time, she enjoys trying new recipes, hiking the trails of Marin, and spending quality time with her husband and baby.
